My Journey Into Lucidity
Dream Articles
A recent article here on dream-psychic.com caught my eye and I decided to expand on it with my own personal experience. The article, HERE, detailed 5 common misunderstandings regarding lucid dreaming. Each of these things was something that I had thought or felt at one time or another.
I am not writing an in depth description of my journey into lucid dreaming, rather a brief commentary on these misunderstandings and their impact on my own experience.
I was very skeptical about the validity of lucid dreaming so I did a lot of research to see if it was something that was more than just a paranormal lover’s wish. At that time there wasn’t a lot of information out there except for in paranormal circles. I still decided to give it a try. Today there is a lot more info available, and here is a link to a great article that somewhat details the trip from foolishness to actual psychological credibility lucid dreaming has made.
One of the biggest misconceptions that I personally had to overcome regarding lucid dreaming was that it was somehow related to witchcraft, satanism, or some other unnatural thing. In fact, that is not true at all. Even when I started the beginnings of my quest for lucid dreams I still harbored hesitation that I was dabbling in something I shouldn’t. Once I realized that it was; in fact, a natural normal experience my qualms abated. Again, the science of lucid dreaming helped me through this one and I encourage anyone who has any sort of religious hesitance toward this to really look at reality and science and keep in mind that it is, after all, a dream.
When I first read of lucid dreaming I thought that it was something that I would perhaps aspire to but not really attain. I bought a book that detailed some easy beginning steps and within a month I was experiencing my first intentional dream awareness. Because of my religious hangups I probably delayed myself a bit and I really feel that it needn’t have taken as long as it did. This site has really good tips on starting out, one of which is keep a dream diary or dream journal, something that is great for interpreting dream meanings as well.
Once I was actually experiencing lucidity in my dreams I became a bit obsessed with furthering my education on dream meanings and found several dream dictionaries. I shared this with my husband and together we have compiled dream-psychic.com as a great dream meanings resource for all of you who are interested in the same things. Together we can learn and grow, reach out and fully experience all of our consciousness. Please feel free to share your tips for lucid dreaming as well as your experiences.
I look forward to traveling this path with our friends and readers. Together we will discover our hidden dream meanings, and, perhaps, new levels of existence.
